Spanish is the oficial language. Many Costa Ricans speak English and French as they are taught in the school system. English is spoken in the tourist areas throughout the country.

Costa Rica's pleasant temperature is spring like year round (average of 72F), with temperatures ranging from 60F at night at higher altitudes to the 90's at sea level. The main influence on temperature is altitude. The coast is hot and humid, with the Caribbean averaging 70F at night and over 85F during the day. The Pacific is a few degrees warmer and tends to be less humid.
As a tropical country, Costa Rica has only two seasons: the dry season which runs from December to April, and the green season which runs from May to November.
