Business and Banking Hours: |
| Government
offices are open from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Commercial offices
are open from 8:00am to 6:00pm, stores and other business
from 8:00am to 7:00pm, State Banks are open from 8:30am
to 3:00pm and private ones are open from 8:30am to 6:00pm
and do not close for lunch. |

Health and Hospitals: |
| Universal
and free medical care covers about 86% of the population,
hospitals are found throughout San Jose and some of the
other largely populated areas. Polio & diphtheria
have been eradicated, other diseases prevented by vaccinations
have been reduced by 94%. This outstanding health care
greatly contributes to a life expectancy of over 76 years,
which ranks with those of highly developed countries.
According to a United Nations Study, Costa Rica holds
first place in Latin America for development of preventive
or curative medicine. It is ranked near the United States
& Canada among the 20 best health systems in the world. |
