Pack light for your travels. The highland areas such as Irazu & Poas Volcanoes and Monteverde Cloud Forest can be cold, so make sure to pack a sweater or a light jacket if you are going there.

For lowland areas, Pacific, Caribbean beaches & San José, wear light clothes, loose-fitting shirts, shorts or pants. A wide brimmed hat and sunglasses are recommended for the beach.

During the Green Season (May-November), please be sure to bring your umbrella.

Most of the hotels out of San José (Monteverde, Tortuguero, Arenal, Sarapiqui, etc) will provide rain coats and rubber boots for visitors interested in taking tours in these areas during the Green Season.
